IS IT WORTH IT!?
First I'll tell you why you "should" buy it. Battlefield
3 is one of the best first-person shooter around right now, especially on the
computer. However I'm not here to review Battlefield 3, I'm here to review
Battlefield 3 Premium.
So... is it worth it?
Well if you look at it from the prospective of "being supportive
towards the money grubbing publishers bleeding us dry for things we rightfully
deserve anyway" then yeah it's a great deal.
Each expansion pack so far and future ones are going to be
priced at $15.
But if you get Battlefield 3 Premium you'll get all the
expansions (and early access to them) for "only" $50. That's a
savings of $25!
What my question is, if I just paid $60 for a game that has ONLY
9 multiplayer maps, along with a lackluster (to say the least) campaign and
insultingly shallow co-op mode.
OBVIOUSLY the main attraction of the game is the multiplayer
mode...
WHY do I have to pay another $50 (possibly $75) for a total
of 20 more maps (if they continue following the 4 maps per pack model). I JUST
BOUGHT THE GAME, WHY DO I NEED TO BUY IT AGAIN TO GET THE FULL EXPERINCE!?
What really gets to me is that this entire scheme was
planned from the beginning. Why not just be upfront with everyone and sell this
game for $110 (which is what It really costs). Why not? Because no one would
buy a first person shooter game for $110!!! But because of how gullible
everyone is, they now actually believe they're getting a good deal for spending
ONLY $50 for premium.
Everyone is saying it's "pirates" who are killing the gaming industry. Is this a joke? They aren't STEALING anything, for the most part games are pirated because they never would have been bought by said person pirating ANYWAY.
What's killing the gaming industry are these GREEDY
PUBLISHERS WHO DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CREATIVE PROCESS... yet they
get the majority of the money? IT'S THESE "PUBLISHERS" THAT END UP
RUINING MOST GAMES, by giving the TALENTED INDIVIDUALS "DEADLINES"
LIMITING THEIR POTETIONAL ALL FOR THE SAKE OF THE BOTTOM LINE, But that's not
it... THEN THESE PUBLISHERS continue profiting off said games buy selling extra
content created for the now incomplete games to you know, complete it... it's
called developer support, something that used to be expected for free. But now
we seem to be paying for it, cause I guess everyone is under the impression
that EA doesn't have enough money already... LOL.
Lets look at what the publisher actually does... promotes
the game? Sure that WAS useful in the 50s, 60s, etc. for all forms of
entertainment when there wasn't this little thing called the INTERNET! Where
everyone from around the world can instantly connect and communicate with each
other? EVERYTHING CAN BE DONE BY THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY CREATE THE GAMES, they
are the ones with the DRIVE TO MAKE THESE THINGS, why are we limiting their
creations just so a bunch of assholes in suits end up making WAY MORE MONEY
then the people who are actually MAKING THE THINGS BEING SOLD!? Because they
"advertise"?... SOMETHING WE CAN ALL DO OURSELVES NOW, with that
internet I mentioned earlier.
It's honestly like an episode of the twilight zone, with
everyone too stupid to realize what's going on... DO ANY OF YOU STILL NOT GET
IT!? THE PUBLISHERS ARE THE ONES KILLING THE GAMING INDUSTRY.
Now the argument of: Well it's only $50, Battlefield 3 is a
lot of fun and I want all the maps. WELL I DO TOO, BUT I AIN'T BUYING IT. THIS
IS A JOKE, A SPIT IN THE FACE TO ANYONE WHO LOVES VIDEO GAMES, AND WE'RE
ENABLING THEM, EVERYTHING THEY'RE DOING WE'RE WELCOMING WITH OPEN ARMS.
Do any of you think this is going to stop if we don't? This is only the beginning...
I'm not naive, any sort of boycott is like pissing in the wind, millions of players on this game, millions of them already have premium and many more will get it. What a great business model... Don't do anything, make billions, continue not doing anything, make billions AGAIN. You people aren't going to stop... I just hope some of you are aware of whats going on.
Those new maps sure look cool though...
