TV/Movie Review: Terry Pratchett's Hogfather (2006)

Big Fat Film Review

I Need More

More Terry Pratchett films that is. After I saw The Color of Magic I started searching for more Terry Pratchett films, books, games, etc. Happily quite a few of his books have been made into a movies and TV series. I really liked the The Color of Magic, but Hogfather is even better. I found Hogfather to be more quirky and original than The Color of Magic. The story centers around an assassin named Teatime who has been hired to kill the Hogfather, the Discworld version of Santa. Teatime, a true psychopath, starts a terroistic campaign on all things imaginary in effort to make children stop believing; the end result being the Hogfather disappearance on Hogswatch eve. To save Discworld Death steps into the Hogfathers shoes and continues to deliver presents and keep children's imaginations alive. There are plenty of odd and bemusing moments as Death tries to understand the essence of the holiday season and fill the role of the Hogfather. In the end it will take a reluctant heroine with a hidden past to save Hogswatch. It's a great movie and the acting is better than The Color of Magic. If you are a fan of the other films you'll like this one even more.
