My Big Fat Film Review
Going Down? (insert sinister laugh here)
M. Night Shyamalama...yama...bama.... The guy who did The 6th Sense came up with the premise for this film. Which should give you some idea of the type of film it will be. Scary, but not gory. Five people become trapped in an elevator after a suicide in the same building has just occurred. The suicide seems unrelated until you learn the devil has used it as a gateway and is one of the people in the elevator, but which one? One by one, as a desperate police detective and a couple of security guards watch via camera, they are killed off violently whenever the lights go out. It's a simple idea, very Hitchcockian as are most of Mr. Shyamalan's films. This is a great little film. It does a good job of keeping you guessing and has some great chills-up-your-spine moments. If you're a fan of Hitchcock type horror movies this is totally for you. It's low key on the blood and gore and big on good writing and good acting to get the scares. It's something I really appreciate and isn't done often enough in movies. Happy nightmares and enjoy.
