MMORPG Game Review: Entropia or Why am I so pale and where have I been for last two months

My Big Fat Game Review

You'll Thank Me...

...and your girlfriend will curse me and probably leave you after you become hooked on Entropia. Entropia is a highly addictive MMORPG. The game has actually been around for almost a decade, but I've never been that into MMOs until now. I decided to give Entropia a try since it's free, free to download and no monthly fee to play. Also because it's the one game you can make money in and transfer into your bank account as real money. That's right. Entropia has it's own economy based on PED (Project Entropia Dollars).,10 PED equal 1 USD. You can work for others running tasks, buy property, hunt, mine, sell, trade, manufacture and more. You won't become rich overnight, in can take months or years before you turn a profit (like the real world), and the same way you can transfer money out of the game means you can put money into the game. Although not a necessity it definitely makes the game more fun and speeds up the process. There are several tutorials online that explain how to turn a profit in detail and it's a good idea to read those before hand if that's your intent. The game it's self places you on one of two planets to start with (several more are in the works) with a couple of items in hand and wearing a tattered orange jumpsuit. There are a few missions offhand that will get you started and help you to explore a bit in the beginning, the game is not about mission though. The game is in an age of laser weaponry and spaceships, but has a very frontier feel to it. There are player vs player areas and an outback, sometimes there are land grabs. The entire economy is based on trading with other players and building items from scratch from basic items you get hunting or mining. The real key to the game is the community and players interacting with each other. Unlike other MMOs you will find a lot of helpful players and very little scamming going on, which is very refreshing. Possibly because noobs are the life blood of the game, or more aptly life sweat. That's a blatant insider joke that you'll understand in the first hour of playing. The graphics of the game are quite good as you can see from my screen shot above. Sound effects are good and the music which there needs to be more of is pretty good. It's very easy to get lost in the game for a week or two or ten. Also of note the game holds the record for the most expensive sales of virtual property and currently there is space station for sale for $500,000 USD. It's free so very worth trying it out: http://www.entropiauniverse.com.
