TV Series Review - Fringe or The New X-files

Big Fat Couch Potato

How I learned to stop worrying and watch the Fringe.

I watch a lot of everything. To date I've seen roughly 7,000 movies and anything worth watching on TV (meaning no reality shows or soap operas.) I never felt compelled to get other people to watch a television show, but Fringe is the exception to the rule. Fringe is most certainly worth your time. There's a lot of crap out there and too many of us have been suckered into watching shows that seemed promising, but ended up in the endless writers trick of "let's see what's over the next hill" or Lost Syndrome. Fringe has none of that to date. Fringe has a broad enough story to allow several side stories in some of the shows, while still pursing the heart of the mystery that the show is based on. Very similar to how the X-files worked and, yes, the show is kinda like the X-files, but it's not. Fringe deals with a lot of, well, fringe ideas/science. Things like parallel universe's, contagious cancer, LSD fueled trips into dead people's brains, and "others" who are observing us. The big difference I see between this show and X-files is that there is some satisfaction, some answers, to the questions. Also Fringe deals with more than just an alien conspiracy, it deals with all kinds of Fringe ideas, a very wide variety of them. The short answer is Fringe is definitely worth watching, interesting stuff, and hopefully with a large enough fan base the show will continue for a quite a few years unlike Jericho which is the only other show I've seen in awhile that was really worth watching.
