Humor Only A Caveman Could Love
I'm a Jack Black fan. I loved Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, Shallow Hal, Kung Fu Panda, etc. All very funny movies. Sadly Year One is not in the same class of comedy. Unless you're 13 or just very immature, or both, you're not going to care too much for this movie. There are one or two funny moments. Such as the scene where they discuss circumcision with Abraham , by far the highlight of the film. The movie makes quite a bit of fun at the expense of religion. The majority of the movie, though, is mostly overworked and low brow jokes about farting and erections. I'd say Year One is worth watching once, but only if there is nothing else on, you're not religious or easily offended and if you hit yourself in the head with a hammer a few times before hand. Given the choice watch one of Jack Black's other movies.
